Man oh MAN!!! Do you like "fish n chips". i love fish-N-CHIPS!!!?
Q. i saw bobby flay on "throw down" and I need some advice for farm-raising cod. I am 23 and modestly proper, but I'm in a "capital raising scheme" of becoming a rich doctor so that I can fuel efforts to develop a multiplex and have enough money to start several home-based businesses. I need to farm raise cod, but that's not my question. My question is this--- Lord Bobby Flay, said that fish + chips needs to be prepared using a "mild, neutral, flavorless fish". I went to publix and its like $8.99 for organic Codfish. I just want some plain cheap mild/neutral/flavorless fish. The cheapest fish they had was catfish at 2.99/pound but it was in "chunk style" and not "flat style". What am I to do??? [cont.]

A. You want a firm white fish like cod, and personally I would say to get fish with some taste other wise it will be bland and all you will taste is the batter. On this count I say Flay is wrong, in my opinion.

A. Filet-O-Fish From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search The Filet-O-Fish is a fish sandwich sold by Mc Donald's since 1963, due to the Catholic practice of not eating meat on Fridays. It contains a breaded fish patty made from Pollock or Hoki, half a slice of American cheese and tartar sauce. It has become popular with people who cannot eat the other meaty burgers on offer, particularly Muslims who cannot eat non Halal meat. In many countries outside the United States, UK and Canada, it is called a Fish Mac or a Mc Fish. In some areas of the U.S. (and possibly other countries) around the time of Lent, there is a "2 for $3" deal and even a "Double Filet-O-Fish" sandwich. In 2006, a website was… [cont.]

What fish in my grocery store are sustainable, good choices?
Q. I had a recent altercation at the fish counter (a man yelled at me for my purchase of chilean sea bass, but that is another story). I do not know much about purchasing fish, and am trying to educate myself. I looked at the seafood watch online, and found it confusing. To me, it seemed that some of the fish "to avoid", are also listed as "good alternatives". For example, on the culinary alternative chart, it says to avoid cod, Atlantic, but also lists it as a good alternative... am I missing something? I don't want to contribute to an industry that is doing irreparable damage. At the same time, it seems that most species of fish available to me at the store are on the avoid list.It doesn't seem logical that 90% of what I… [cont.]

A. They give you recipes for it cos they got some for sale, they give you the sustainable rating prob because they have to! They know threes a demand, but they're trying to placate the greenies! What if 'sustainable catch) is farmed? would that be worse, usually asia, even perch from the nile, straight from the sh it ponds of vietnam to your table! There's a fish we get in oz called basa, it's cat fish, farmed, hasn't even got a pseudonym, has an acronym instead British America Seafood Association. But again, here you nedd a bigger boat, to get out further to catch the big fish, & it's the recreational fisherman, 400 boats a day 10 fish each, no wonder there's none left... I'm lucky, during the course of my employment I've always had… [cont.]

what frozen fish is safe for sushi?
Q. OK, i live in a city as far away from the coasts as possible (North Dakota). I have a few fairly large supermarkets near me with what they sell as "fresh fish" and frozen fish. I have been told flash-frozen fish would probably be safer than these fresh ones because of my location, and I don't have time to mail-order fish. So of the types of commercially frozen fish i can get at the supermarkets near me, whats the safest to make sushi out of? frozen seafood examples: Tilapia Salmon Herring Cod Mahi Mahi Swordfish Halibut i left out the obvious freshwater ones, since i have been told you NEVER want to eat those raw. any suggestions from this list or other species i may run across?

A. None. Freezing changes the texture. The only way you even have a chance to have safe and fresh fish is to buy it from a trusted fish market. Supermarkets are no longer safe in the US since they buy food from China and as you know there is little testing and inspection for the last 8 years. PS I would like to see the look on a Japanese person's face if you asked them that question! The whole point of sashimi is the fresh and delicate flavor of the ocean etc. Also, a recent study in Seattle, found that 100% of wild salmon have round worm that can infect people. The Japanese are very particular which part of the salmon is used (Just the firm part of the tail). Americans not so much... Read up before you risk your health...or of your friends.

Another part from my book; please rate?
Q. h I panicked, tried to get everything finished as fast as I could. But I couldn't make things cook faster, so I was forced to stay in my room until he called me. It wasn't long. "ACCAILIA!" He yelled, sounding sickeningly cheerfull. "SHE WOLF!" That's what my name meant. He did that on purpose, why I don't know. I came nervously from my room, trying to hide my shaking knees. "What is this, sweetheart?" He sounded normal, loving even, like a good father. Even a great one, and it had me gasping for air. "Cod fish." I murmured. "I thought you might want dinner." "I see." He said. "What a pleasant surprise." His tone had gone flat, unreadable. "And, Wolf, what time is… [cont.]

My vet told me to feed my cat fancy feast?
Q. My vet told me to feed my cat fancy feast (the "classic" kind and without gravy). Is this okay? It seems like everywhere else people are saying absolutely NO commercial food found in grocery stores. I checked, and the first couple ingredients in each are either "cod, liver", "salmon, liver", or "ocean whitefish, liver, fish" , and then the meat by-products. He is one year old, 10 pounds, active, but always seems starving even right after he finishes his food. He gets one 3oz can in the morning and one in the evening. Hmm..I'm not sure if I wasn't clear, but I am NOT feeding him people food and I NEVER do- based on one of the answers I think there may have been some confusion. Thank you for your… [cont.]

A. Fancy feast does have some grain free flavors so its not terrible but not great either. I would feed it but only in very small amounts. I would stick to higher quality foods like merrick, blue buffalo wilderness, halo, weruva, taste of the wild etc as his main diet. Try feeding him more food and monitor his weight. If he doesn't gain weight then keep him on that amount of food. He may actually be hungry.

Songs that bring back memories...?
Q. I was just listening to "Big-eyed Fish" by Dave Mathews Band and realized how sad it made me, my mom would always play the song on the way to my annual vacation to cape cod back when life was easy and I my family didn't have half the problems it does now. It makes me wish I appreciated those times more and all I can think about is wanting to relive those days. Are there any songs like that for you?

A. "Only One" by Yellowcard reminds me of a guy I use to like because I liked him so much that I convinced myself he was the "only one" for me. everytime I heard this song on my i Pod, I'd smile and think of him. it's been awhile since the last time I saw him but, to this day, I can't sit through the whole song without thinking of him and being sad :/
